What’s On in Herefordshire: July.
The summer holidays are nearly upon us and with those eight weeks often comes the question of how to entertain the children. If you are staying in one of our properties this July with your family, or perhaps a quiet break away for yourself, here are some great ideas of what to do during your stay in Herefordshire.
Bromyard Gala is a hugely popular local show, held over the weekend of the 30th June and 1st July, which highlights the best of country pursuits, classic cars, steam engines as well as local produce to sample. It has a main arena with attractions designed to entertain the crowds all day. On-site parking is free and well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome. This is a day out not to be missed for all of the family.
Beer on the Wye.
Beer on the Wye XIV is Hereford’s annual beer and cider festival and it makes its return this summer for it’s fourteenth year over the weekend of the 6th to the 8th July at Hereford Rowing Club.
This family-friendly beer festival will showcase over 135 different real beers from breweries around the UK and 40 beers from overseas, catering for those who like to try something a little different.
For those who prefer something sweeter, there will also be the very best range of ciders and perries from local producers, (Herefordshire is famed for its ciders) as well as some from neighboring counties.
The beer will be served chilled in third pint, half and pint measures and you will be able to enjoy your samples whilst listening to nine live bands throughout the weekend.
There will be some activities for the children and food served throughout the day, meaning that you can sit back and enjoy the picturesque atmosphere of the River Wye.
The Great Ledbury Celebration.
The great Ledbury Celebration will be held on Sunday 8th July on Ledbury High Street and will celebrate the best local food, drink, music, poetry, and heritage. The celebration will bring to a close the Ledbury Poetry Festival. Ledbury’s historic high street will be lined with food and drink stalls, which will lead to an entertainment area around the 17th Century Market House.
Entertainment will be provided by a mix of music, dance and poetry, plus a special drama event. Ledbury’s heritage buildings will be opened specially for the day, such as the Master’s House, the classic car display and the children’s “Box of Delights” garden competition. Public car parks will be open and free.
We do still have some availability left this summer, so don’t delay, get in touch today to book your relaxing trip to Herefordshire this July.
