What’s On In June
Herefordshire in June is a truly magical time, everywhere is green, the sun is shining (most of the time!) and there are some fantastic events for all of the family to attend. Here is a round up of some of our favourites.
Herefordshire Walking Festival, 16-24 June.
Herefordshire Walking Festival is the perfect opportunity for you to learn and practice map reading skills, with guidance on hand, whilst walking through ancient woodland.
There are lots of ‘good walks’ through beautiful countryside as well as a 20 mile cycle ride through South Herefordshire.
2018 also sees the return of The Mortimer Trail which will be split into three sections over the first weekend, from Kington to Ludlow. Kington is the starting point for the first two sections and Leominster for the last leg. Transfers are included.
As well as the walks, Kentchurch Court has opened its gardens, cider orchards and is offering a Cider Museum tour. There will be walks around Croft Castle with a private tour of the walled garden, as well as storytelling as you walk through the old estates, with the ancient landscapes explained by a geologist that helps you to observe the rocks encountered en route.
Hay Festival 24th May - 3rd June.
A tented village in Hay-on- Wye, on the edge of the beautiful Brecon Beacons National Park is home to the Hay Festival, which brings readers and writers together to share stories and ideas in sustainable events. The festival will inspire, examine and entertain, inviting participants to imagine the world as it is and as it might be.
Hay festival runs 24th May until 3rd June and has an eclectic mix of talks, workshops and music for all audiences.

Shobdon Food and Flying Festival, 30th June and 1st July.
Now in it’s 13th year the annual Shobdon Food and Flying Festival celebrates Herefordshire gastronomy and supports local producers over a family friendly weekend, with any profits donated to predominantly local charities and good causes. So, from succulent local meats, seasonal fruit and vegetables, crisp local ciders and the finest ales to the creamiest cheeses, the most tempting desserts and the most satisfying confectionery, they have all bases covered.
You’ll also find our British Cassis at the Food Festival, so even more reason to come along and have a tipple.
