A SOGGY HARVEST

Hello again! Well, the autumn weather certainly isn’t being kind to us this year. The grape harvest is a damp affair, but our staff are braving it in remarkably good spirits, so that hopefully our White Heron Estate Sparkling Wine 2024 will be as well received as the 2023 has been. We keep thinking of the delicious end product to remind us that it's worth the effort. It’s not just us having a messy old time – the French vineyards, too, are finding ‘la vendage’ especially challenging this year, and are enduring conditions like our own. Our apple harvest is also ongoing (similarly soggy). As the week goes on, it's getting wetter and today (Wednesday) many of the roads around Lyonshall could easily be mistaken for rivers - make it stop!
In other news, a heron - grey not white - is often seen lingering on the banks of Brook Pond on White Heron Estate, waiting to lunge at unsuspecting fish. It is very camera-shy as well as sharp-witted, and gracefully speeds off before we can get a photo. We’ll keep trying!
