RAGING STORM DARRAGH - FALLEN OAK TREE

Weather is the theme of the week – how very British – with Storm Darragh wreaking havoc across the UK last weekend. We lost some beautiful trees at White Heron including a plum tree at Field Cottage, and this humungous oak tree which was approximately 200 years old. Planted by current owner, Jo Hilditch,’s great grandfather, it must has seen a lot of change over its lifetime. The tree went out with a bang, taking a few power lines with it as it fell… its reincarnation as firewood is underway. For scale, if you look closely in the picture, you can see Mike sawing it up (clue – right hand side of photo).
